Producing a House History Report for any New York City home sets us on a trail that begins with visits to the archives of various city agencies and historical organizations.
It involves searches through such resources as property books, building records, fire insurance maps, various city directories and telephone records, photograph archives, and ancestral lineage archives.
While not as in-depth as our House History Books, upon completion of our investigation, all of this information and evidence will be drawn together into a spiral-bound House History Report to form a chronological narrative that will give a vivid overview of your house.
To research, write, edit, lay out, and produce each House History Report takes approximately 6-8 weeks. Each runs approximately 30 pages and is fully supported with footnotes and endnotes documenting our sources.
The cost for producing a House History Report on any New York City property is a flat $975.
After you’ve received your House History Report, if you would like to convert it into a Presentation House History Book (within six months of receiving your report), we are happy to discount the cost of that upgrade by 25%.
If you’re ready to start discovering the history of your home, send us your address and we’ll get to work!
Our report covered all of the historical bases for our house. We had no idea – for a brownstone that seemed like every other on our block – that so much historical information existed. Now, we’re turning our House History Report into a House History Book! Thank you, Brownstone Detectives!”
